Kidz Online recorded the presentations of the National Medals of Technology and the National Medals of Science for 2004 at a Whitehouse ceremony on Monday, February 13, 2006. After the awards, our fortunate crew was privileged to attend the black-tie Laureate Dinner at the Ritz Carlton to hang out with George Lucas and reconnect with an old friend... Dr. Vinton Cerf, the Father of the Internet. A great deal of thanks goes to Mildred Porter and Marjorie Weisskohl for inviting the Kidz Online crew and for arranging interviews for Streaming Futures and a new program Hollywood Futures.
The National Medal of Technology is the highest honor awarded by the President of the United States to America’s leading innovators. The Medal is given annually to individuals, teams, and/or companies for their outstanding contributions to the Nation’s economic, environmental and social well-being through technological innovation. By highlighting the national importance of technological innovation, the Medal also seeks to inspire future generations of Americans to prepare for and pursue technical careers to keep America at the forefront of global technology and economic leadership.
